My family had the chance to go on a Bluefoot Pirate Adventure this weekend, courtesy of US Family Guide and we were not disappointed at all! In fact, my youngest has already asked when we can go back!
We arrived at the dock to see a super-cool pirate ship, adorned with a skeleton right at the top! Just seeing the ship made us excited to become pirates! My daughter got a “tattoo” painted (at no cost) of a skull & crossbones with a girly touch of a bow, which was seriously adorable. They gave her a camo skull vest to complete her pirate attire.
When you book your reservation, they tell you to arrive 30 minutes prior to sailing, but we actually started boarding the ship about 25 minutes past the time we were scheduled to leave. Just something to keep in the back of your head, in case you have plans afterward.
The pirates were “sworn in” & got to shoot their “water cannons”. Adventure was theirs for the taking! As part of their “oath” they promised to eat their broccoli & brussels sprouts as well as go to bed on time, among other super-important things like that. Later, “Barnacle Bill” came and “attacked” the mighty pirate crew. The kids got down to business and with the Pirates of the Caribbean music playing in the background, they defeated the mighty Barnacle Bill.
Last, but certainly not least, the pirates loaded up on treasure, including some doubloons and “gems” and received an official certificate which basically declares them as pirates. All in all, this was a highly entertaining adventure that even my 15 year old son got into. The captain was great at getting the kids excited and entertained the adults with stories about the gorgeous boats and mansions you’ll pass on the scenic journey.
When you book a Bluefoot Pirate Adventure, your cost of $25 per passenger ages 3 and up includes a discounted parking rate of $5 at the Bahia Mar, which is conveniently located within walking distance of the beautiful Fort Lauderdale beach, so take advantage of that great rate and head over to the beach after your adventure or grab a bite to eat at one of the fabulous restaurants located nearby.
I would highly recommend the cruise to anyone with younger children visiting the Ft. Lauderdale area. If you are local and want to book a party I have a great coupon code you can use right here: http://usfamilycoupons.com/coupon.php?regionid=75&bid=11994&dealid=1933 @usfg
